I get so busy and lost in the minutae of life that sometimes I completely forget to post about the really good things… the unexpected surprises and blessings, the little sweet moments, the cherished time with friends, the really good jobs with amazing clients, my wonderful coworkers….etc.

A chance to play with aging fx on our movie "...And Out Comes the Wolf"

Last year I worked on a movie called “…And Out Comes the Wolf” by Big Newport Studios. We had a big crew of bg and featured background actors and on this day our locations manager was stepping in to be the “grandma”. In the movie our “our grandma” gets sick and so we needed to age her and make her look more sickly.

I rarely get the chance to do fx makeup like this. It was layers of alcohol paint and dehydrating her skin to make her wrinkles look more pronounced. We bounced around adding latex but were short on time so it was all about shading and layering and sallowing and adding the red, browns in copious amounts and hoping it would read right with the lighting.

Overall, I am really pleased with the effect and how it looked in the film. It is fun for me to try new things and actually succeed the first time!

This project has been over a year in the making and I've have been so excited to work on it and flex my fx makeup skills.  The first round of portraits were to establish characters. Minimal makeup, minimal hair.  Raw, gritty, real.

The second round of portraits is what you see below... character building in relationship to their environments and action.  FX makeup (wounds, blood, dirt and smoke effects), wig styling, and rough makeup and hair.  Quite the opposite of what I do on a "normal" job.  :)
